By installing Link Messenger (“we”, “the service”) you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If there is something you do not agree with, do not use the service.
In short#
- You can use Link from the age of 13 — or from an older age if the law of your country requires it.
- You are responsible for what you send and publish.
- Breaking the rules leads to restrictions and blocks: for a month, for a year, or permanently.
- Signing in from a modified app means a block for a month.
- Fraud and pornography mean an immediate block for a year.
- We do not read or store private conversations, but we do moderate public publications.
- Premium renews automatically until you cancel it; refunds go through the App Store or Google Play.
1. Who may use the service#
The minimum age is 13. If the law of the country where you live sets a higher age for using services like this on your own and for consenting to data processing, that law applies. In the countries of the European Economic Area, for example, this is usually 16 — except where national law has lowered the threshold to 13, 14 or 15.
By registering you confirm that you have reached the age that applies to you and that you are not barred by the law of your country from accessing the service. Accounts we learn to have been created in breach of this rule are deleted.
If you use Link on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are entitled to accept these Terms for it.
2. Your account#
The account is tied to a phone number. Keep access to that number and to your device: anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
The account is personal. It may not be transferred, sold or rented out. One person may have several accounts, but not for faking engagement and not for getting around a penalty: if you create a new account while a block is in force, we will block that one too, and the original block will start again from the beginning.
If you have lost your number, contact support before it is reassigned to another subscriber: once a number has been reissued, restoring the account may be impossible.
3. What is not allowed#
By using Link you agree not to do the following.
Harm people
- Publish material that exploits children or shows sexualised images of minors — we block this immediately and pass the material to law enforcement.
- Threaten, stalk, bully, blackmail, or share other people’s personal data without their consent.
- Call for violence or terrorism, or stir up hatred based on nationality, religion, sex or any other characteristic.
- Publish material about self-harm and suicide that encourages others to repeat it.
Deceive
- Send spam and unsolicited bulk messages.
- Run fraudulent schemes, phishing, pyramid schemes or fake giveaways.
- Impersonate another person, a company, or Link itself.
- Fake followers, views, reactions and super likes.
- Use comments as an advertising space: promoting goods and services, inviting people to other channels and outside websites, leaving contact details for sales.
- Beg for engagement in the comments: “like this”, “follow me and I’ll follow back”, “leave a comment and I’ll reply”. This is faked engagement too, only done by hand.
Break the law
- Sell drugs, weapons, forged documents, stolen data and other goods banned from circulation.
- Publish pornography where it is openly visible.
- Infringe other people’s copyright and trademark rights.
Break the service
- Use modified versions of the app: cracked builds, mods, patched APKs, unofficial clients. Such builds break security checks and end-to-end encryption — they put both you and the people you talk to at risk.
- Distribute malware and malicious links.
- Circumvent technical restrictions, disassemble the app, or use automation for bulk actions.
- Create load that interferes with the service, scan our infrastructure, or harvest user data with bots.
4. Your content#
Everything you send and publish stays yours. So that the service can work, you give us a limited right to store, transmit and show that content to the people you addressed it to — and nothing more.
This right ends when you delete the content; when you delete your account — after the month allowed for restoring it. Bear in mind two things we cannot influence: copies that other users managed to forward or save will stay with them, and short-lived technical copies may remain in system backups for a while, until they are overwritten.
You are responsible for what you publish: for the rights to the material, for the consent of the people who appear in it, and for the truth of what you promise buyers.
Public is visible to everyone. Posts, short videos and open stories can be viewed, forwarded and saved by other users. Do not publish anything you are not ready to show to strangers.
5. Publications and business accounts#
If you sell goods through Link, a publication must help the buyer make a decision, not mislead them.
Photos. Clear, showing the actual item the buyer will receive. No other companies’ logos, watermarks or contact details in the frame.
Description. The real size, colour, material and what is included. False and misleading characteristics are not allowed.
Category and price. The item goes in the right section, and the price is the final one, including taxes and fees. An understated “attention-grabbing” price is not allowed.
Returns and contact. State your returns and warranty terms, if you have any, and a working way to get in touch with you.
Ordinary accounts may not publish advertising posts about goods: such publications are hidden, and repeat cases lead to restrictions on the account.
6. Paid features#
What Premium gives you. The subscription unlocks additional features of the service. Exactly what a plan includes and what it costs is shown in the app before payment — by subscribing, you agree to those terms.
Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically: a monthly one every month, a yearly one every year. You are charged within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price in force at the moment of renewal. If we change the price, you will know about it in advance.
How to cancel. Cancel in the store where the subscription was taken out, no later than 24 hours before the end of the paid period:
- iPhone and iPad — Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- Android — the Google Play app → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
After cancelling you keep access until the end of the paid period, and there will be no further charges. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
One-off purchases. Gifts and super likes are paid for once and are spent inside the service. They cannot be exchanged for money or moved to another account.
Payment. All payments are processed by the App Store and Google Play under their own rules. The store takes a commission, applies its own conversion rate and adds local taxes and fees to the price — none of which we influence, and we never receive your payment credentials.
Refunds. Refunds are handled by the App Store and Google Play in line with their own rules: the request is submitted to the store where the purchase was made. We have no payment channel of our own, so we cannot refund money ourselves. The unused part of a paid period is not refunded when a subscription is cancelled.
If a charge looks wrong or unauthorised to you, write to support@linkmessenger.me — we will look into it and help you file a request with the store. These terms do not limit the rights the law gives you, including the right to withdraw from a purchase in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.
7. Moderation and blocks#
We do not read or moderate private conversations — the content is encrypted and we have no access to it. Public content — posts, stories, short videos, comments, profiles — we review on reports and by automated means.
How to report. There is a “Report” button on every publication, comment and profile; you can also write to support@linkmessenger.me. We review a report within 24 hours: if the violation is confirmed, the publication is removed and the measures below are applied to its author. We tell the person who reported it what came of it.
Feature restrictions. This is the first thing we apply for less serious violations: the account keeps working, but only partly. We may close off the ability to publish posts, write comments, send stories and short videos, or message people you do not know. The restriction is lifted when its term expires.
Comments. These deserve a separate mention, because that is where the rules are broken most often. Advertising comments and requests to like, follow or reply are deleted — after a moderator has confirmed the violation. The author also loses the ability to comment: for a few days the first time, and for longer on repeat cases, up to a permanent ban. The rest of the account keeps working.
Blocking the account. For serious and repeated violations the account is blocked as a whole — for a month, for a year, or permanently. The term depends on what happened and whether it was the first time.
A block for a month. We block an account for a month if it connects to the service from a modified version of the app. To come back sooner it is enough to install the official app from the App Store or Google Play — but the current block still runs to the end of its term.
A block for a year, straight away. An account is blocked for a year on the first occasion, without warnings or intermediate measures, for two things:
- fraud — deceiving people for money, data or access to someone else’s account: fake giveaways and fundraisers, phishing, pyramid schemes, selling goods that do not exist;
- openly visible pornography — publishing sexual material where strangers can see it: in posts, stories, short videos, comments, or a profile name and photo.
For the whole of that time the account cannot be used.
A permanent block. For material that exploits children and for preparing acts of violence, the account is closed permanently and the material is passed to law enforcement.
Appeals. Some decisions are made automatically, and automation makes mistakes. If you believe a decision is wrong, write to support@linkmessenger.me with the account number — you can appeal within 6 months of the block. A person reviews the appeal, not an algorithm; we reply and explain the reason for the decision.
8. Reporting infringement of your rights#
If your material has been published on Link without permission, or someone is using your trademark, write to support@linkmessenger.me and include:
- a link to the publication, profile or comment;
- what proves your rights to the material;
- your contact details for a reply;
- confirmation that the information in your report is accurate.
We review such reports within 24 hours. If the infringement is confirmed, the material is removed, and its author is notified and may object — for example, if they hold the rights to the publication or are relying on quotation. Repeat infringements lead to the account being blocked.
9. Our rights to the brand#
The Link Messenger name, the logo, interface elements and design belong to us. They may not be used in your own products, advertising or domains without written permission.
10. The service is provided “as is”#
We do everything we can to keep Link fast and free of failures, but we do not promise uninterrupted operation: networks, devices and app stores are outside our control. We are not responsible for the content users create, or for the consequences of the arrangements you make with other people — including deals struck in chat.
We are not liable for indirect losses: lost profit, lost data or damage to business reputation. Where the law does not allow liability to be limited, these limitations do not apply.
11. Resolving disputes#
If you have a complaint about the service, write to us first at support@linkmessenger.me and describe what happened. We look into such messages and try to settle the matter out of court — 30 days from the day we receive your message are set aside for that.
If no agreement is reached within 30 days, the dispute goes to the court at the location of the defendant.
12. Ending the relationship#
You can delete your account at any time, in the app settings. After the request the account stops working, but for a month you can still change your mind: sign in with the same number and the account comes back with its content. After a month it is deleted permanently and cannot be restored.
We may stop providing the service to you if you seriously breach these Terms, or to everyone if we shut the service down; in the latter case we will give notice in advance.
13. Changes to these Terms#
These Terms will change along with the service. We will announce significant changes in the app or on the website before they take effect. If you keep using Link after that, it means you agree with them. The date of the last update is given at the top of the document.
This document exists in several languages. If the translations differ, the Russian version prevails — it is the original.
